The word masochist is a noun. Like any noun it can be used as the subject or as the object of a sentence. To use it as an object you could therefore say

After sharing an apartment with John Smith I realised he was a masochist.

It can be changed from singular to plural by adding S at the end.

e.g. Some masochists enjoy sexual pleasure from being humiliated

It can be changed to an adjective by adding ic at the end.

e.g. It was apparent that John Smith had masochistic tendencies

E.g: Masochist-Sadist

A masochist begs to hit him while the sadist smiles and says NO.
