James reviewed the facts: Susan had broken up with him a year ago, and he hadn't understood why and was very sad and hurt, but slowly, he had moved on. Now he was dating Shannon, and thought that he was falling in love with her... he loved the way she pushed her hair behind her ear, and her accent, and even the way she ordered dinner. But tonight, when he got home from a date with Shannon and asked her in for Hot Chocolate, there was a tearful message from Susan on his answering machine, asking him to please call her, and that she couldn't live without him. Shannon had heard it and quietly excused herself, and he had been too frozen by the message to stop her. Now he was in a quandary. He didn't know whether he should go after Shannon and try to explain, or immediately call Susan. He loved them both. How could he make that kind of a choice... was there a way to salvage a friendship with one and date the other, or would that just end in more pain? He sat there silently with his head in his hands, knowing that he should make up his mind and do *something* ... but he didn't know what.
