The comparative form compares two things eg the red car is faster than the blue car, (faster is the comparative adjective).

The superlative form is used to compare three or more things and to pick out one as being more (something) than all the others. The red car is fast and so is the blue car but the silver one is the fastest, (fastest is the superlative adjective)
