Well that depends on what you want to pay, in the UK right now (Feb 09) you can get a standard loaf (800gms) for around 60p if you buy the cheapest or you can pay at least £1.35 for a premium quality loaf, a thick sliced loaf can yield just about 15 slices whilst a medium sliced loaf can yield upto 30 slices, so to answer your question. At 60p a loaf, 30 slices = 2p a slice. At £1.35 a loaf, 15 slices = 9p a slice.
