The story portrays that option helps to endure distress situations by the means of two children Johnston and Suzanne. They were boht hopefully all the time and riding want to worry their parents by telling them of their problems. John told his dad that he wasn't afraid of dying if they could all just be together. This brought hope and courage in the narrator. He was encouraged to give his best in order to save their lives. Besides, Suzanne also portrayed her responsible behaviour when she during want yo worry her parents by telling them of the hurt in her head cause that would distress them she also made them a card which said that they should just hope for the best. This all brought a lot of positivity in those times. If enabled the narrator to keep on his efforts to find the islands and save everyone. It made the ambience hopeful and optimistic which was all they needed in those times
