Karen L. Green, married in 2004. This was news to me since I had never heard he had gotten married. Only that he had dated author Mary Karr for a number of years and that they had broken up. I'm unable to find out anything about Karen, who she is or what she does. DFW was known for romancing many of the grad students at Pomona and maybe that's where he met Karen. That's just my guess since she's I'm unable to uncover any info. about her other than her being married to DFW.

David Foster Wallace was an American novelist, essayist, and short story writer. He was born in New York, and moved to Illinois just before his sister Amy was born, who is now a lawyer in Arizona. Dave went to Amherst college and roomed with Mark Costello (aka John Flood). Dave had to leave because he was depressed, but he soon returned. Dave wrote The Broom of the System, Girl with Curious Hair, Infinite Jest, and A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again and Brief Interviews with Hidious Men before he married artist Karen Green, with his eldest niece signing their marriage certificate as a witness. In the summer of 2008 he became depressed again, and had to be sent to the hospital. In September, after he was released, Karen left him alone, and when she came back, he had hanged himself. He was only 46. Friends, family, colleagues and students gathered at Pomona college, where he taught, for a service, and a Quacker church for a real service. Dave is survived by his parents, widow, sister, nieces, and friends.
