Have can be a helping verb, but it can also be a main verb meaning to possess.

Haven't is a contraction of have not, a verb and an adverb (not). Except in rare circumstances (e.g. I haven't a clue), the form haven't is used with another verb, as a helper (auxiliary) verb form

I haven't seen the book. I haven't missed a payment.

But it can also stand alone.
