Pilgrim could be a noun; "the pilgrims came on the mayflower.", an adjective; "that guy just ate some pilgrim food.", it is not a verb because it is not showing motion, therefore it is not an adverb. An easy way to remember adverbs is that it the ends with "ily" it's usually one. Hope I helped(:
