∙ 11y agoYes and no. There are two words spelled ass. One is the American phonetic version of the word "arse," pronounced ahss, referring to the anatomy of the rear end. It is vulgar and thus to be avoided in polite company, and in compound with the word "hole" it is to be avoided at all times.
The other is a species of equine quadruped that includes the onager and the donkey. It is sometimes used as an epithet for a fool, without any vulgar or anatomical reference.
