An African village
the main theme, i think in this story, is culture, meaning what happens when you die, there fore when meji comes back, they don't know, they only know he is acting weird ex. doesnt eat food, wears a scarf "so his head doesnt fall off" comes in a locked house those are some examples, i have an English class and we are doing a group project on this story, so i have to find the deeper meaning, wich like i said, i think the story is trying to make readers think "what happens when we die" that's what i think!! and my group does too let me know if this helps u!!

To be honest with you I'm not really sure, the story doenst really describe it, (and btw this answer will only help you if you have read this story!!) when you read it the only time it says that life is sweet is when i belive it is when meji and asi are walking or no no it's i cant remember but i think meji was talking to bola.... ok i just looked and it is when he is talking to bola, it's just when he runs away. again... but i think it is because she didnt break the bones. so he was thanking her for not breaking the bones.
