A fact is a statement based on hard evidence, is provable and beyond dispute. An opinion is a statement based on the person's own interpretations, assumptions, motives, and selective use of facts. A good question for Fox News (all news groups) to think about.

A fact is something that can be proven, sometimes backed by statistics.

Opinion refers to a judgment or personal feeling that is not founded on proof. Opinion statements are characterised by "I think", "I believe" and "the best", "the worst", etc.

Facts are always true. Something untrue, stated as a fact is an error.

In school I was always taught that opinion is generally something that can be disagreed with while fact is 100% correct (Excluding wackos or conspiratorial people) Fact: George Bush was the president of the U.S. from 2000 until 2008-fact because it is absolutely true and cannot be proven otherwise. Opinion: It is always sunny outside-not true because it isn't always sunny, that is an opinion.

A fact is a statement or something that is true. It is proven by definable events, evidence, or statistics. A fact has scientific basis and it cannot be changed. It is a fact that without oxygen in the air, we would all die.

An opinion is the personal preference, judgment or personal feeling that is not founded on proof of one person or even a group of people. An opinion is your own thought. (could be false or not true). Opinion statements are characterized by "I think", "I believe" and "the best", "the worst", etc.

A Fact is an actual real proved statement. There is evidence which establishes the statement and little or no evidence to contradict it.

An Opinion is either based on subjective values or is a statement for which there is some evidence but not conclusive evidence

example:

Fact - George Washington was the first president of the US.

Opinion - George Washington was the best president of the US.

An opinion is something someone forms based on their feelings and experiences. It does not rely on facts. A fact is something that can be validated by others and direct observation.
