only when people answer questions they don't really know and give a wrong or confusing answer.
This site doesn't work because random people put the wrong answers on here and some questions arnt answered, this site doesn't help when doing homework or studdying.

The answers provided on the website are generated by individuals on the site. Although the site is monitored by supervisors and others, both good answers, bad answers, and nonsense answers can be entered. Over time, the nonsense and bad answers are weeded out by the supervisors and others. The inconsistency simply comes from the extremely high volume of questions and answers that arrive on the site everyday.

I don't think I am wasting my time looking for answers, because not everything on this site is wrong.

ALWAYS - No! WikiAnswers is a Wiki - ANYONE can provide an answer or correct an answer. There are a group of volunteer supervisors who try and make sure the answers are good but this effort takes time. The site shows you if an answer is by a supervisor and how many people have trusted a person who answered the question the past. An answers who has a lot of trust points, has provided many answers and been a participant on the site for a long time is likely to provide a correct answer. The belief is that over time the correctness and therefore the value of the site as a resource will improve.

At this time if you would like to improve an answer on WikiAnswers you are required to make an account and sign in. Unregistered users are able to answer unanswered questions but are not able to edit existing answers. This reduces the amount of vandalism on the site and keeps good answers from being erased or changed.
