I would say to read a eight grade book that most eight graders can read then go through the book and find eight grade words that you think would be approupriete for them. <3 :)

For example i am in eighth grade and have a lexile of 1499, which is approx junior/senior in college or grad school. if that was based on grade level i would just post high school, so this is much more helpful
