This effect has been detrimental to the US image abroad and caused people around the world to hate the US. Obama has promised to combat the negative effects of lobby groups and he has since snubbed aipac for the less extreme Jewish lobby j street. Israel has no interest in conquering or diplomatic wrestling with the United States considering that the United States is Israel's strongest ally. When Prime Minister Netanyahu began to complain about his reception in Washington, the opposition leader Mofaz said, "Who is your enemy, the United States or Iran?" He did this in order to remind Netanyahu that the United States is still Israel's greatest supporter and not to worry so much about the United States. As for AIPAC and other Israel-aligned lobbies, they have had a strong hand in American foreign policy for a while now and it has not grown or subsided in any strong way in the last decade.
