There might be another answer, but I have a sideways cross necklace and for me it just means the same thing a normal cross means: Jesus's death, burial, and ressurection to save us from the sin we as humans are inherently prone too. The sideways cross necklaces and bracelets you see aren't stating anything different than a cross every has, they are just a fashion statement

According to the Dictionary Of Symbols by Carl G. Liungman [pg244] it's the Cross of Philip the Apostle. It's a Latin cross on its side...supposedly (according to this book) St.Philip was crucified on a cross in this position. This book also connects "The Cross O fPhilip" with flags of Nordic Countries and The Danish Flag has a white cross of Philip on it.
