You might be thinking the word "precipitation" has the suffix "pre" and so it must mean "before." This would allow/require "cipitation" and "post-cipitation" to be valid. It is not the same word however because the "pre" is from the Latin "prae" and doesn't mean "pre" at all. Cipitation by itself is not a word. To fall or be hasty in Latin is: praecipitare.
