Having to do with fiction, works of fiction or products of the imagination. It's not quite the same as fictitious. Something that's fictitious is just made up but may not have to do with fiction per se. For example, if you filled out a form and gave a false addess, that would be a fictitious address. Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective because he appears only in fiction--imaginative writing; he is not a real person. He is also fictitious because he was invented.
