Psychiatry is the study of the mind, and takes its name from the Greek word "psyche" which means soul or mind. It also means butterfly, and is the name of the woman who marries Eros (aka Cupid). A psychopomp escorts the souls of the dead to Hades.

The second part, -iatry, comes from the Greek words Iatros= physician, Iatriki= medicine. So psychiatry is more "the specialty of healing the soul/mind"
