Wow, this is a tough one...I'm gonna give full license for anyone to edit this, but I'm gonna guess that it's "potent", Latin for having much influence and authority. "omni" means all, which in the case of "omnipotent" is the variable of the compound word. Adversely, "impotent" would mean the opposite just by adding a different prefix.
