Have you felt shame before? Can you feel what it is like to be disappointed on your birthday? That's right, it doesn't feel to good. The boy in this story was disappointed on his birthday and didn't feel the love and attention he deserved from his family. A boy, that was turning twelve, had a birthday while at Christian boarding school. He wasn't smiling because he felt as if his family didn't care about him or celebrating his birthday. Since he was so upset, he decided to do something that most kid would regret but he didn't feel shame like a normal person. He snuck into where his teacher kept the exercise books and stole three of them. I believe that these three exercise books represented the three people in his family that he felt portrayed him. The teacher found out that someone too the exercise books. Meanwhile, the boy found out that he would be staying with his friend for winter break instead of spending time with his family. I think he felt sad because he wasn't given a choice to go or not. Even though he liked his friendship with this other boy he needed attention from his family. The teacher then punishes the whole class until confession of stealing the exercise books is revealed. Finally, a boy in his class takes the blame to get the beating to stop. At lunchtime, the boy who took the blame had a THIEF banner on him. He dint care, he just kept on smiling. I believe this story shows how important it is to spend time with loved ones and what is the correct thing to do if you did something wrong.

"Dint" is "force, or means" and isn't used anymore. "By dint of frugality" means the person is extremely diligent about using money; "frugal" means careful, economical.
I believe "dint" is more commonly used as a verb, and "dent" as a noun.
