That depends on WHO is asking you this. A normal, typical, every person, they're just asking where you're from - like, where you actually come from. If the person looks like a gang member, it means they're assuming you to be a gang member, and they're asking what your gang affiliation is. If you're not a gang member, the correct answer is "nowhere".
