In the book 'Blue Moon' by Alyson Noel everything changes for Ever and Damon. As Damon begins to teach Ever more and more about being Immortal, helping her to strengthen her powers, Ever begins to realise that Damon is getting weaker. She worries even though he persists he is fine. In their school, there is a new guy called Roman, he is really nice to everybody and is just one of those people you naturally like and find it hard to hate. But as you get further into the book something happens. Ever goes to a place called Summerland were she is able to go and see a sort of Remote Viewing of Damon's past. She sees how he becomes Immortal, some of Ever's past lives with him. When she comes out of Summerland and back to Damon he starts acting strangely. Then one night Damon left Ever at Mile's Hairspray performance and leaves her there. Roman is there and offers Ever a lift back home, even though she tries to refuse considering Roman has been flirting alot more each day with Ever. The next day at school Ever is shocked to see that Damon has joined the 'Popular' crowd and is treating Ever like everybody else besides her two closest friends treat her - like an outcast and a loser - Ever soon realises that it's Damon's drink - the Elixir that keeps you healthy as an Immortal - has been mixed with some kind of poison to make him sort of hate Ever, to be kind of evil.

Then, on another day ever goes back to Summerland and to her surprise finds a way to go back in time to maybe the Summer before her parents died, to change everything. To stop there deaths and stay human. Even though Ever loves Damon so much and was hell-bent on reversing the damage his poisened Elixir did to him, she takes the oppurtunity eagerly. She wants her family and her sister back, including her dog. She wanted it to be back to normal were she was a happy family, had the perfect boyfriend and was really popular. The only side affect is, is that when she went back in time, she wouldn't be able to remember about Immortal's about Damon, about the accident, nothing. As if it never happened. So she writes herself a note and puts it in her back pocket. When she is back in the past she finds the note but ignores the messages.

On the day of the car accident, when Ever asked her dad to turn around to get her favourite sweater back from cheer camp, she thinks about the note that she found in her pocket, it was in her writing so she was positive she had written them, but she didn't know what they meant. The message she was thinking about was one that said, don't go back for the sweater. She listens and decides not the mention it to her dad. Just seconds before time is about to overlap and the future changed forever time freezes. Ever is the only one who is unfrozen, except for Riley. Riley's spirit takes over the past Riley's body, and Riley suess that she has to go back, that she has to go back for the sweater and go back to were she belongs. Riley gives Ever two chooses, she can either stay in the past and relive her life the way it would of been if the accident hadn't occured, or she can be sent straight back to the present day and save Damon and not relive the accident.

Something inside of her tells her to go back and she does. There she tries to fix Damon. But only to find out that his Elixir was in fact poisened, by Roman. He is also an Immortal. Damon was the first Immortal ever. His father came up with the Elixir and just as he was about to test it, the townsmen came to kill Damon's father, his mother and himself. But Damon hid with the Elixir. The men killed them because they thought what he was doing was wrong.

As Damon grew older after the death of his parents he was the only one that had the ingredients for the Elixir, but he keeps them to himself and doesn't try to make it. But when he is older a plague breaks through the town, killing everybody. There were many orphans at the time and Damon decides to make the Elixir and give it to himself and the other kids to make them Immortal. It works. But as it suess in book 1, Evermore, Damon marries and has a long lasting relationship with Drina. But you see, Roman was also another one of the first Immortals, and he lied Drina too, but Drina ignored Roman and married Damon.

So Roman was the one that poisened Damon's Elixir to draw him away from ever, and eventually the poison takes full effect and restarts the aging process, but making him into a sort of old man. Roman has a plan though, he tricks ever into thinking that if she puts her blood into a antidote it will make it better and make him the same again.

It works. Damon becomes the age he was, healthy and as good as new. But there's one problem. The antidote alone would of worked. But because Ever added her blood, it now runs through Damon's system. And because it acts as an antidote against a poison, it means that if Ever's DNA touches any part of Damon's body, he will die within seconds. This was Roman's plan all along, to make Ever add her blood, then when he drank it, Damon would never be happy again because he couldn't have the one he loved most, Ever.
