Ms. D iLaurentis holds a press conference and announces that Ali had a twin Courtney who was ill and was in the hospital. Courtney attends Rosewood Day and befriends Kate and their posse, excluding Hanna. "Courtney" tries to befriend all of the girls sending them clues that she is really Alison. All of the girls really believe she is Ali. Ali tells them that the day she dissapeared she instead went up to her house instead of going to meet Ian and Courtney went outside and Billy got her, but when Ali tried to say that it was really her, her parents didn't believe her (because Courtney was really crazy) Mellisa on the other hand is suspicious and Spencer thinks that Melissa had to do with killing Ali. Aria doesn't believe that Courtney is Ali at all. Emily, Spencer, Hanna, and Ali all attend the Valentines Day Dance together and Ali and Hanna disses Kate and her posse. Aria (who is suspicious of Ali) catches Noel kissing Ali at the dance and decides she believes Ali. All of the girls leave the dance early and go up to Ali's house in Poconos. At Ali's house all of the girls go up to Ali's bedroom and smell a rotting smell, then Ali decides to re-enact the night she disapeared by hypnotizing them. The girls fall for it and when they wake up Ali is gone, and and a letter is on the floor. The letter told the girls that the girl who be-friended them was Courtney and not Ali, how Courtney stole her "A" ring and her parents shipped the wrong girl to the mental hospital. How she killed Courtney for stealing her life and all of her friends. Realizing that the house was on fire the girls opened the closet and found Ian's rotting body and Mellisa tied in a closet, they escape through and exit and Emily see's Ali before they get out of the house. Once they get out the house explodes. Later on they find that Mellisa was suspicious and went to the Preserve to talk to Iris about Ali, and then Ali jumped her in the parking lot. The police find that Ali is responsible for Courtney's death and how Ali conspired with Mona to be "A", and how Billy was innocent because his lap top was tampered with. All the girls lives return to normal with Hanna and Mike back together (and Hanna's mom comes back), and Noel and Aria, Spencer with Andrew, and well Emily by herself. Meredith has her baby and all of the girls remain best friends like they used to minus Ali. (the story leaves off with Ali not being dead from the fire)
