Jennifer Stewart, the Manchester Record reporter, checks the facts of her story. She calls Dr. Albert Seymour, the school superintendent, at home. Jennifer asks if the school district has a rule preventing students from singing the national anthem, and Dr. Seymour says no. She quotes him in her article the next day.Next, Jennifer phones Dr. Doane, the principal of Harrison High School. Dr. Doane was in district meetings all day on Friday and doesn't know anything about Philip's suspension. When Jennifer quotes Dr. Seymour as saying there is no rule against students singing the national anthem during opening exercises, Dr. Doane feels she has no choice but to agree. She does say that Philip is a nice boy, and while Dr. Palleni usually handles discipline, she is not comfortable discussing the details of a student's behavior.
