What is Jesse Stuart's Another April about?

Well I think Another April is about an Old man who is going on his ritual spring walk...however his daughter whom he lives with is concerned about his health...that she dresses him up in too many winter clothes including gloves...Before the old man leaves he tells his granchild that he is going to visit his old friend...he sets on the path the path outside the house..where he in counters the beauty of nature almost through innocent eyes..he walks around for while until he makes his way to the smoke house where a Terrapin is basking and he talks to it for a while...it has 1847 scratched onto its shellso its allowed to live off the family`s tomatoes... The old man lives and goes back inside the house... All in all I think this story is about not taking anything for granted and never turning your back on those that have been there for you through hard times..
