Well, I'm not sure what the official definition is because I'm having trouble with it myself, but I've been taking a writing class this school year and I've been able to use words like "although" or "because" and a lot of times I get away with using phrases like "in order to...." so I don't know if that helped or not, but i thot I'd throw it out there
