"Clingy" can refer to several things.
the most common two can be divided into Emotional and Physical.
Emotionally Clingy is the kind popularized in sitcoms and Disney shows aimed at young girls.
Typically, you are being too jealous or possesive. Snapping at members of your gender that talk to your Friend is a common one that can be easy to miss.
While in media the female is typically the one doing this, in real life the male is more possesive. If only by nature.
Physically Clingy will usually mean that you are holding on to them for too long.
Holding hands at every opportunity, or simply haning around a certain distance. It depends on the other person.
Girls will usually be the ones to be this way. Holding hands may show closeness, but most guys will dislike this, although there are exceptions. Some think it's cute.
