Black humor is when a comedian takes serious or "dark" subject and makes it humorous. This is a sub-genre of comedy and satire as it relies on cynicism, skepticism, and sarcasm in it's employment and often revolves around topics like tragedy or death.

The Darwin Awards (a website about an annual honor given to the person who did the gene pool the biggest service by killing themselves in the most extraordinarily stupid way. There are people who thought they could outsmart trains, tips vending machines over onto themselves, and people whom have strapped rockets to themselves among these awards. Sad but hilarious to read about.)
