You can always go to the nearest library and check out the Childrens section or ask a librarian but basically Children's literature is some thing close what a child views as reality. Typically in Children' books the hero always beats the villain. The Hero is absolute good guy never wavers, nor feels doubt or does anything bad. The villain is the absolute bad guy never helps anybody, is ugly, stupid and can't control their temper. A black and white story. There are no twists. The Villain will never actually do a bad deed either, the hero will always stop him or her at the last minute. As people grow older the things they read will more reflect what they learn about reality for example in a child's romance they will never fight, never have sex and they will always be happy, as they grow older romances will have fights, break ups, and divorces. Of course children's literature isn't bad it just only reflects what a child thinks is in store for them: a perfect life.
I hope this helps but if it doesn't you can ask a librarian (I'm sure they'll help), a English teacher if your still in school or you can read a children's book and find out for yourself!
