Answering as an American and most assuredly not an economist, I would venture that labor is dependent upon the context. The first thing that comes to mind is working with one's hands, as in manual labor. Labor is a party, to the left of center, in many countries. Human enterprise is used in a much more constricted context, fewer areas where it would be used. Man's (Humanity's) impact on the world, particularly money- making (commercial) ventures.
