laterisation or laterization is the process in which a laterite is formed. A laterite is an ore deposit as a result of intense weathering in humid, warm, tropical type locations around the world. It is usually rich in clay (kaolinite) and Iron and Aluminum oxides/oxyhydroxides. (Robb, L. 2005)
