Sentence diagramming is a visual way to show how the parts of a sentence are all related. It is basically a drawing of lines with words on them. The lines are horizontal, vertical, and sideways depending on the role that the word plays in the sentence.

For example, adjectives modify nouns. In a sentence diagram, a noun would go on a horizontal line and the adjective that modifies the noun would go on a slanted line coming off of the horizontal line (showing that the adjective is modifying the noun).

It's easier just to see some examples!
