if you are talking about maths, it basically means the average. To find the mean of a group of numbers, you have to add them all together and divide them by the number of numbers there are. I know that sounds confusing, let me give you an example:

If i wanted to find the mean of the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 i would add them all together (10) and divide them by the number of numbers there are (there are 4 numbers, so 10 divided by 4 is 2.5) and your answer is 2.5.

The mean of 1, 2, 3 and 4 is 2.5

Hope this helped :)

(MITMPW: The "average" of a group of numbers is also called the "arithmetic mean". There are other kinds of "means" such as "harmonic mean" and "geometric mean". You will usually only hear about these if you study or use statistics so "arithmetic mean" is often shortened to just plain "mean".)

((MITMPW means "More information than most people want".))
