Word Masters is a challenge to 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Each student... * Gets a list of 25 words, usually odd words or common words with odd meanings. * studies the words. Usually the words are reviewed in class, but studying at home is the key to any test * Takes a 20 question test on the words with analogies, a way to show the relationship between words. It is usually a hard concept to grasp for most adults, so it is amazing that children can understand it. * Gets the results of the test. Their score is a fraction of 20, with the numerator being the number of correct answers. Some students are not graded on their score, and some are, depending on the teacher that gives the test. Scores of 15 or higher are officially recognized as excellent by the WordMasters committee, the group that created the WordMasters and the WordMasters test. Scores of 10-14 are considered average, and scores of 9 and below usually means that the student either didn't study, or isn't very good at analogies.
