The term SiMa and SiAl are now outmoded terms (usually just Sima and Sial) relating to the crust materials.

Concepts dating from before sea floor spreading, and tectonic plates.

Sial indicates rich in silica and aluminium, and with a specific gravity of about 2.7.

Sima rocks contain silicon and magnesia, with an s.g. from 2.8 to 3.0. But including some ultrabasic rocks with an s.g. up tp 3.4.

Sial will be lighter, and float on the heavier sima.
