What is the conflict in the book pretties?

Lets see: Tally Youngblood finaly turns pretty, shes back with all her friends, and met Zane. Later Tally and Zane discover that there is a downside to the operation--your brain gets these "lesions" on them, that change the way you think. They also get a cure-- and split them (there was too) . But what thety didnt know was: one was the cure, one was the cure for the cure. The cure cures your brain- but leaves these things that eat up your brain. Zane got the cure. Tally got the cure for the cure. Tally some how cured herself-while Zane wasnt doing to well. He makes it through, though. Later, when the Specials come, Tally discovers one of them is her friend, Shay, who forces her to become a Special, also.

The pretties have their personality changed to be vulnerable and easy to control by the specials during their surge on their 16th birthday. David gives Tally (now a pretty) two pills -which she shares with Zane- to change them back into their real selves. They rebel against the Specials and try to spread the cure

I would just like to fix one little mistake up there ^^. David does not give Tally the pills because (and correct me if I'm mistaken) his mum wouldn't let him or he was recruiting New Smokies or something along those lines. It is actually Croy whom hides the pills in Valentino 317 which causes Zane to convince Tally to find them the next day on their picnic. In Tally's letter to herself, she states that it will be, well here, I'll just type the entire letter in:

"Dear Tally,

You're me.

Or I guess another way to say it is, I'm you-- Tally Youngblood. Same Person. But if you're reading this letter, then we're also two different people. At least, that's what us New Smokies are guessing has happened by now. You've been changed. That's why I'm writing to you.

I wonder if you remember writing these words. (Actually I'm telling Shay to write them. She did handwriting in school.) Do they seem like a diary entry from back when you were a littlie, or like someone else's diary altogether?

If you can't remember writing this letter at all, then we're both in big trouble. Especially me. Because not being remembered by myself would mean that the me who wrote this letter has been erased somehow. Ouch. And maybe that means I'm dead, sort of. So please try to remember, at least.

But, anyway, here's what I'm trying to tell you: They did something to your brain-- our brain-- and that's why this letter may seem kind of weird to you.

We (that's "we" as in us out in the New Smoke, not "we" as in you and me) don't know exactly how it works, but we're pretty sure that something happens to everyone who has the operation. When they make you pretty, they also add these lesions (tiny scars, sort of) to your brain. It makes you different, and not in a good way. Look in the mirror, Tally. If you're pretty, you've got them.

The good news is, there's a cure. That's why David came and got you, to give you the pills that will fix your brain. (I really hope you remember David.) He's a good guy, even if he had to kidnap you to get you to get you here. Trust him. It might be scary to be out here, away from the city, whereever the New Smokies are hiding you, but the people who gave you the lesions will be looking, and you have to be kept safe until you're cured..."

And it goes on and on some more, but my hand it starting to cramp up and I have at least 3,000 more words I have to type up (not in this answer, but on this HUGE book report I am doing >.<) so yeah... um, well, thanks :D

The climax is when they find the tracker in Zane's tooth and the Special Circumstances come to the New Smoke. Everyone leaves except for Tally and Zane, who is forced to stay because he can't even walk. Then the Specials end up coming to get them and take them back to the city.
