FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) refers to an investment abroad, usually where the company being invested in is controlled by the foreign corporation. For example, an American company taking a majority stake in a company in China.
But a TNC (Transnational Corporation) is a corporation that has its facilities and other assets in at least one country other than its home country. Such companies have offices and/or factories in different countries and usually have a centralized head office where they co-ordinate global management.
