There are several possibilities. If you are lookng at the color black, some poetic synonyms would be: Ebon, Jet, Obsidian, Sable, Raven, just to mention a few If you are talking about black as an adjective, such as in "utter darkness" you could add Stygian, Perditious, Pitch etc.
But please don't disregard one possibility. The word black is as 'poetic' as any other word. It's the words that come before and go after it that count. Beautiful words are indeed beautiful. But fancy words do not a poem make...
