What are good examples of the theme good versus evil?

If you read William Golding's The Lord of the Flies, you will see that the theme of good vs. evil in human nature is a huge part. I think it's also probably present in the Hunger Games series.

What is the theme of The Looking Glass Wars?

The theme or central message of the book, "The Looking Glass Wars" by Frank Beddor is that Redd and her army (which is black imagination) are defeated by white imagination which is Alyss and her army. So you should be good, not evil, that good will dominate over evil.

What is an unifying theme?

The theme of a story is the underlying message.A theme can be a universal truth or a generalization about some aspect of lifeTo determine the theme of a story, ask yourself, "What does the author want me to learn or know?" Your answer should be a "big idea" that can stand on its own away from the story. Many stories have more than one theme. To be valid, a statement of theme should be supported by evidence from the text.

How is a theme different from a subject?

No. The subject is more nuts and bolts. It would be something like 'A group of scientists get on a space craft and hike on out to Jupiter (Saturn in the book) to see if they can find evidence of alien artifacts there. It deals with the actual situation and the people involved. The theme is more of what the story means in philosophical terms. It would be something like 'There are things in the universe that are beyond the ability of man to comprehend.' The above is the subject and theme of the story 2001: a space odyssey.
