When I write an essay, I always go through these steps: brainstorming, making an outline, writing a rough draft, editing and revising.
These steps outline a typical writing process. Brainstorming involves generating ideas, outlining aids in organizing thoughts, drafting entails putting ideas into sentences, writing involves fleshing out the draft, and revising focuses on improving and refining the content.

A good match for an outline would be detailed notes or a rough draft, as they can help to flesh out the structure and content of the outline. Additionally, brainstorming ideas or creating an outline template could also complement an outline by providing a framework for organizing information.
Start by brainstorming ideas and creating an outline to organize your thoughts. Write a clear introduction that presents your main idea or argument. Develop your body paragraphs with supporting evidence and examples. Conclude by summarizing your main points and restating your thesis.
