I believe Holden contradicts himself in that he had previously stated that he didn't care about his stolen gloves and he had also said that he was not cold. Now, a short while later, he's saying that he's freezing and explaining what he'd do to whoever stole his gloves. This statement is a bit more believable as well making it a paradox.
