Most plots have two distinct phases. At the start of the story, things get steadily more complicated. This is called the Desis (from a Greek word meaning 'to tangle up'). Then there is a crisis (turning point) and things start to get less complicated. This is called the Lusis (Greek word for untangle).
Some critics call the Desis the rising action. I don't.
Rising Action
Plot- The plot is the sequence of events in a story, each event causing or leading to another. The 6 things on the plot diagram are......(in this order) 1. Exposition- the introduction to the people, places, and situations that we need to know 2. Rising Action- the series of events that lead to the climax of the story. Usually the conflict struggles with the protagonist - the "rising action" is where the plot is "thickened" with characters and problems. 3. Narrative Hook- the introduction of the main conflict that catches the readers attention, and causes the reader to find out what happend. 4. Climax- the decisive movement in a story; the turing point of the play to which the rising action leaves; the part which determines the outcome of the conflict. 5. Falling Action- the series of events which take place after the climax and leads to the conclusion. 6. Yes. A helping verb is used to help identify when an action takes place. So in the sentence 'I mightbuy that dress' the helping verb 'might' indicates that the action will take place in the future.
The climax does not take place during the rising action. The rising action includes events that develop the plot and build toward the climax, which is the moment of highest tension or conflict in the story.
Rising Action
Rising action in a plot diagram is the point in time during a plot (can be in a movie, book, play, etc) where the main events leading up to the climax occur. After the initial incident (which is the event that makes the rest if the plot take place), everything up until the climax (which is the most exciting and/or dramatic part of the plot) is the rising action. There will be action, information, clues, etcetc during that part. It helps keep your attention and pull the entire plot together.

Oedipus accuses Creon of plotting to take his place as king.
The element of a play that focuses on what happens, rather than what it means, is the plot. The plot encompasses the sequence of events, actions, and conflicts that take place throughout the story. It includes the structure of the narrative, such as exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. This element drives the story forward and engages the audience without delving into the deeper themes or messages.
The climax is the point of highest tension or conflict in a story, where the outcome becomes clear and leads to the resolution. It is the turning point that determines the direction of the plot and typically occurs towards the end of the story.
