If your looking at a page in a book, magazine or newspaper then scan a little area at a time, your eyes my feel a little strained if you don't find what your looking for quickly. If your looking at a page on a PC then, Ctrl followed by f will bring up a small search box, type the word you're looking for and let the PC find the word for you.
