the guy wants to kill his wife because he has been cheating, and wants to be with the other girl. so he leads Lucy coates down into a mine shaft and tries to kill her but than she ends up killing him because shes suspected the whole thing. :) hope this helps...

Also it is person vs self as well, because the wife mentally fights herself upon the fact that she assumes that her husband is out to kill her.
