She basically thinks that she has nothing in common with the kids in her new school since she's like one of the few whites in her school and the kids in her school have different likes in music and singers than her. Before she befriended Porscha, she felt alone and thought she was totally different that everyone but thought that since both Porscha and her mom had died and they both lived with their grandmothers, they should become friends. She also felt like she didn't want to be there and how she thought she was alone since her mother had died, but soon things went the right was with her after talking with Porscha. And people really seemed to like her poem and she finally felt a part of something for once.SOURCE:Schoolbronxmasquerade.wikispaces.com/Leslie+LucasHope this helps :))
