i have just read the book and it is mostly about coming of age/ loss of innocence. Hollis has matured and has come of age by taking care of Josie and running the household. She is realizing the true meaning of friendship love and family.
Hollis decides to move out of Josie`s house with Josie, and they move to another place, because the " Mustard Woman" was coming to talk to Hollis about moving in with her instead of her staying with Josie.
