In the Young warriors there are many times in which the boys could be the best but I think Tommy is the best Young Warrior of them all. There are many ways in which I can prove this, but I will only say a few. Tommy has great skill, he won most of the contests, he was brave to risk his life for his village and he was dependable, because the Chief could trust him and Johnny to go to Mocho Mountains for help.
Tommy got to show his skills during the initiation trials to qualify them as young warriors. In one of the tests, the boys are expected to shoot arrows through four holes that decrease in size with each target. While the other boys either miss the last target or have their arrows damaged while passing through it, Tommy manages to get his arrow through all the holes without a problem. In the slingshot competition; while all the other boys missed the tree or hit it but it did not break Tommy hit branch completely off. This made the people of Mountain Top rejoice saying that the people will never going once Tommy is in charge. Also not only did Tommy shot great marksman skill, but he also has great memory. During the question challenge Tommy answered all the questions with hesitation. Also, went Tommy and the boys went on the hunt and saw a Redcoat, Tommy at the time was being silent throughout the excruciating pain. This shows that he is both skilled in body and mind.
Tommy showed his bravery in each chapter of the book. One of the first times he showed he was brave is when he stood up for his friend, Johnny. He was intimidated by the Chief so he said nothing. Until he told the chief that Johnny does not make jokes. Also, he said that Johnny was the smartest young warrior he knows. He was also brave he accepted the mission to go to the Mocho marron’s chief. He knew that one mistake and he could have been captured or killed. Tommy and Johnny come across a wild boar during their mission, and have to climb a tree to try and escape from him. This showed that he had to be brave and stay calm to think rationally. This proves that he was a great young by being brave at all times.
Last but certainly not least, Tommy’s leadership. Tommy was a great leader throughout the book. He was such a great leader that some of the boys called him, Chief. Also he was such a good leader that others started to get jealous. Also, the main reason he was the leader is because he won most of the challenges. One of the first times Tommy was the leader is during the hunt on the Coney ground. He was the leader because his was telling everyone what to do. He was leading well, and most of the boys listened. Therefore this proves that Tommy had great leadership skill.
These are the few ways in which I prove that Tommy is the best young warrior. Therefore this shows that Tommy is the best young warrior, because of his skill, bravery and his leadership.
