the book is called " Jane Eyre" and considered a classic piece of literature told as a love story.
The problem in this story is that Beterli is always teasing Keevan of his height. Beterli gets in a fight with Keevan and get Keevan from going to the Impression, but Keevan does not give up and goes to the Impression.
If you mean the story I think you do (it's been over 3 decades since I've read it), the title might give you a clue.
peanuts
Heth chooses Keevan as his dragonrider because Keevan displays qualities such as courage, determination, and compassion. Despite his small size and inexperience, Keevan shows loyalty and a strong bond with Heth, making him an ideal partner for their adventures together. Heth sees potential in Keevan and believes in his ability to become a great dragonrider.
Beterli wants Keevan to think that he's been removed from the candidacy.
because he is a mischiveous underdog
Keevan was created in 1997.
An external conflict is when beterli fought with keevan and broke his skull and leg. An internal conflict is when keevan fears that he wont be at the impression to impress a dragon.

He is not a dog, let alone UNDERDOG- The Kipling character is a Mongoose. fighting snakes is their natural role, and the animal is a mammal, more intelligent than a reptile, so you can"t call him an underdog.
