minuscule is another saying for miniscule, there are two different spellings to it

You have that back to front:

The original word, meaning a lowercase letter, was minuscule and hails from the 7th century CE. The now very common misspelling miniscule didn't appear before the 17th century.

Today, minuscule is used to mean tiny, extremely small. This is probably where the spelling confusion comes in: people mistakenly link it to mini~, small; but it derives from the Latin minus.

Some dictionaries accept minisculeas an evolved variant; some regard it as non-standard; while others don't give it a mention at all, considering it to be a non-word.
