Some people like wearing socks with leather shoes, and some do not. It comes down to personal preference.
depends on the type of dance. ballet - young kids wear ankle socks with leather shoes. tights worn when older, and with pointe shoes(never wear socks with these). guys wear socks or bare feet with their shoes tap - yes socks jazz - shoes or runners - your preference hip-hop-yes ballroom - depends on the type of shoes - generally tights are worn(guys wear socks)

They dont Some of the Muslims, especially old ones, wear leater socks in winter. When they perform wadhu (ablution), they put on normal socks and then put on leather socks. When there is need of performing fresh wadhu, they don't put off leather socks. They just pass their wet hands on the upper part of the leather socks and wadhu is complete. (It is called Massah). They don't have to wash their feet.
Tap shoes do not need socks worn with them. If you are worried about your feet smelling/sweating, put baby powder on your feet. If you are just practicing, you can wear socks to prevent chaffing.
for me i would wear them without those socks you would wear with tennis shoes... but i would wear them with the socks you would wear with ballet flats, for girls. :)
